This is an
introduction to some well regarded and popular Scottish poets,
including Robert Burns, Robert
Louis Stevenson, Robert Henryson,
George Campbell Hay, Iain Crichton Smith, Sorley McLean and Walter
Scott.
Whereas the likes
of Robert Burns and Walter
Scott (late 1700's to early 1800's), Robert Louis
Stevenson (late 1800's), and Robert Henryson (mid to late 1400's),
established their poetry and literary works in earlier centuries,
the poets such as George
Campbell Hay, Iain Crichton Smith and Sorley McLean created their prose relatively later in the
20th century (1900's).
Like Robert Louis
Stevenson, George Campbell Hay
and Iain Crichton Smith
were not only successful poets, but also became famous as a prolific
story tellers and revered novelists.
